Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting Elusa Winery in charming Calistoga, where exceptional wines are crafted under the guidance of renowned winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. Located on the spectacular grounds of the Four Seasons Resort Napa Valley, Elusa offers a truly memorable Wine Country experience.
We were especially honored to enjoy our tasting with our longtime wine friend and Elusa manager, James Cerda, whose knowledge and passion for wine made our visit even more enjoyable.
We began with the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, a refreshing and beautifully balanced wine that was the perfect introduction as we toured the winery.
We then settled into Elusa’s elegant tasting room to sample several remarkable wines, including the 2023 Kenefick Cabernet Franc, the 2014 Calistoga Cabernet, and the 2019 Pozzan Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines were thoughtfully paired with an assortment of delicious accompaniments, including heritage-breed prosciutto, tart dried cherries, dry-roasted salted almonds, dark chocolate espresso beans, and Point Reyes TomaTruffle cheese.
The tasting quickly turned into a lively and engaging conversation about wine, and we particularly enjoyed the Cabernet Franc. Naturally, we couldn’t resist bringing a couple of bottles home to Danville to share with our fellow wine-loving friends.
Following our tasting, we continued the experience with an elegant lunch at Truss Restaurant, located next to the winery at the Four Seasons. It was the perfect way to cap off a wonderful day in Napa Valley.
Our verdict? Elusa Winery is definitely worthy of a place on your Wine Country bucket list. From the exceptional wines and beautiful setting to the warm hospitality and knowledgeable team, it is an experience we highly recommend.
