Located on the revitalized Embarcadero Waterfront and the Financial District of San Francisco, Americano Restaurant & Bar is conveniently located near many public transportation options and joins several area restaurants in making the Embarcadero San Francisco’s food Mecca. Additionally the hotel offers a location directly across from the historic Ferry Building Marketplace, San Francisco's gourmet destination.
We sat on the patio enjoying the warm sunshine and panoramic views of the Bay and Oakland Bay Bridge. Long picnic tables with comfortable cushions grace the patio creating a warm and friendly environment.
All the servers were very polite, professional, and knowledgeable.
Lunch consisted of two wonderful appetizers. A ricotta stuffed fig, wrapped in bacon and dotted with a sauce along with a peach and ricotta bruschetta. In both dishes the ricotta was housemade and light, fluffy and airy. Truly a remarkable taste to savor and a definite signature taste for Americano.
Next was a dish of Meatballs with smoked scamorza and pepper agrodolce. The blending of the agrodolce sauce of a tomato sweet-and-sour taste topped with the smokiness of the scamorza cheese was truly a burst of flavor in one’s mouth.
Although tempted by the variety of pizza entrees, I selected the express lunch which was a wonderful taste of summer vegetable minestra, local Yellow fin and avocado Panini, a whole peach and house made chocolate chip cookies to go! It is a favorite among the lunch crowd since it is a variety of tastes at a reasonable price.
Linda selected the Wild mushroom mafalde with roasted chicken, sofrito, and foraged mushrooms. The sauce was rich and light and perfectly coated the mafalde pasta. This was truly a heavenly taste treat bringing all the flavors of the chicken and earthiness of the mushrooms together.
