Located in the financial district between the Boulevard and Ozumo, Region is a great new eatery for Southeast Asian food off the Embarcadero in San Francisco. It is also a reasonable place to dine with generous portions that can be shared.
As you walk into to the restaurant, you feel a sense of calmness as you are surrounded by a fireplace on the wall and elegant birch trees.
For openers we had the crispy shrimp and pork Chao rolls that were seasoned perfectly. I also had the hot and sour soup with shredded chicken and shrimp that ranked as the best on my hot and sour list.
For the entrees, Linda ordered the minced lettuce cup and I ordered the Mongolian skirt steak with homemade potato chips. Both entrees were enough to share for 2 people. The food was prepared to perfection.
For dessert, we tried the Dark Belgium Chocolate Mousse Gran Marnier that completed a great lunch.
They also offer a wide variety of crafted beers and wines and happy hour prices from 4-7 Monday thru Friday.
From the website,
"Our guests are tempted to ask the particular region from which our chef’s delectable and subtle recipes derive. Each dish is familiar, mouthwatering, and yet somehow beyond expectations. How can that be? The answer is simple. We carefully prepare the true rustic flavors and recipes of the Southeast Asian countryside using the limitless techniques and ingredients available in the Bay Area. In other words, we offer the flavors of the Far East from the west.
Region is equally charming to visit. The hand-wrought iron designs make way for a gorgeous dining room among the whispering birch trees that surround you during a private meal. Enjoy a unique selection of matching wines, coffees, teas, as well as delectable desserts from a completely unique region of the world."
