Gary Danko opened in 1999 and is always ranked tops in the "City By The Bay" and known around the country for its excellence.
From the web site"Gary Danko is widely recognized as one of America's most talented and respected chefs. His achievements include a James Beard Foundation "Best Chef - California" award and reflect his lifelong pursuit of excellence in the culinary arts."
I have had the opportunity to eat at Gary Danko many times. It is "Simply The Best." In addition, when you meet patrons like famous Chef Emeril Lagasse dining at the table next to you, you know it is a very special place.
A seasonal price fixed menu is available for all appetites. It is $71.00 for 3 courses, $89.00 for 4 courses and $104.00 for 5 courses. The wine selection is very extensive and they also offer a $50.00 corking fee if you want to bring your own special bottle of grape.
There is a cheese cart that flows thru the restaurant and offers a sophisticated selection of cheese from California and around the world.
Reservations are always required and sometimes you need to plan 3 months ahead to get a coveted seat. There is a small bar area that you can eat in without reservations if you want to just stop in for dinner or dessert.
Speaking of desserts, the baked chocolate Souffle with two sauces is definitely something you need to try.
In addition, the Flambeed Banana Mascarpone Filled Crepes, Graham Cracker-Pecan Streusel And Carmel Ice Cream is prepared table side and very enjoyable after a decadent Danko dinner.
