La Mar- "Peruvian Foodie Heaven"- Linda's Favorite

Tasting Menu
 La Mar

This restaurant is a foodie heaven and one of Linda’s favorites. It offers ambience, great service with Bay views and a very interesting lunch menu. Diners have a choice of eating on the patio which is on the water or inside where the decor is fresh and eclectic. Highly recommended are the “Pisco Sours” which is a drink with limes, egg whites and brandy! They are unforgettable and be careful if you order more than one!

Pisco Sour

From the web site, some specialties include:

Cebiches
The national dish of Peru, made with 100% sustainably caught fish and shellfish, briefly marinated in “leche de tigre.”

A la Brasa / barbequed
It’s a way of preparing food in Peru using the warmth of the barbecue in an oven or a grill. The most popular dish prepared this way is barbecued chicken. The chicken is first seasoned and marinated and then cooked in an oven that has a motor mechanism which cooks several pieces of chicken at the same time. The chicken bodies are strung on a metal bar that turns around cooking all the chicken in a regular way at the same time. It comes with French fries and salad.

As for our recommendation and since the menu is extensive, for lunch order the Chef's tasting menu for $19.50 which will provide you with a good sampling of several Peruvian foods.

The tasting menu includes:

Cebiche Classico-Yellow tail in a classic leche de tigre with red onion, habanero, Peruvian corn and yam

Causa Limena- Dungeness crab on top of a yellow potato causa that is hand whipped with avocado puree and hunacaina sauce

Chorrillana- Catch of the day with red onion, tomato, cilantro and mashed yucca in an aji panca tamarind sauce

Dessert-Peruvian Purple corn sorbet which was wonderful to end a great meal.
